Social Studies Fair: Relevance to Today
I have had a couple of questions about the section of the Social Studies Fair Display Rubric on the item "Relevance to Today." I want a sentence or two explaining how the topic is relevant (or important) today. For example, if I were making a display on the Giza Pyramids I might state that "The Pyramids of Giza remain relevant to today's world as examples of public works projects that provided jobs for laborers when they were not needed for other tasks. Franklin D. Roosevelt similarly used public works projects to provide employment during The Great Depression when much of the labor force was not needed in the private sector."
